Co-Chair (part of Executive Committee) – Filled
This position requires participation at monthly MPSG meetings year-round.
There are two co-chairs during any given term on the Music Parent Support Group (MPSG). Responsibilities include the following: 1. Collaborate with other Co-Chair to set goals and timelines for the year, assist with setting monthly agendas and leading meetings. 2. Guide and oversee the work and direction of the MPSG throughout the year. 3. Communicate with MPSG volunteers and music department staff on projects, timelines and other business throughout the year. 4. Ensure that constitution of the MPSG is being upheld.
Secretary (part of Executive Committee) – Filled
This position requires participation at monthly MPSG meetings year-round.
The MPSG Secretary records minutes at every meeting , distributes recorded minutes prior to next committee meeting and amends when necessary.
Community Representative – (part of Executive Committee) Filled
This position requires participation at monthly MPSG meetings year-round.
This position is filled by a person who is not a parent or guardian of a student within the program but is interested in the well-being of the Arts and specifically the Music Program at Canterbury and has some knowledge of both. Volunteering for the Music Program, for special events such as Music Nights is not required but is greatly welcomed and appreciated.
Volunteer & Communications Coordinator – Filled
This position requires participation at monthly MPSG meetings year-round.
Responsibilities mainly consist of coordinating and writing email call outs for various volunteer opportunities including Musicals, After Hours, Coffee houses, etc. This role also oversees Music Night call outs as well as maintaining and tracking the on-line Music Night volunteer sign ups. Current volunteer has extensive notes and templates making an easy transition for the new volunteer. Good writing skills are an asset!
Music Night Coordinators – Filled
(shadow for one year then lead in 2019/2020)
This position requires participation at MPSG meetings leading up to Music Nights (minimum two months prior to Music Nights).
Responsibilities include pre-Music Night planning such as reviewing supply inventory, purchasing supplies, printing signage, and principally overseeing volunteers at both Spring and Fall Music Nights. Current Music Night Coordinator will be available during 2018/2019 school year to assist in training and has extensive notes and templated documents to assist in this position.
Fundraising – Filled
This position requires participation at monthly MPSG meetings throughout the year.
Responsibilities involve managing existing fundraisers including a gift basket raffle (fall music nights), sale of roses (spring music nights), and a bottle drive in January. New fundraising initiatives are also welcome! Position also includes communicating with student co-heads to assist in their coordination of student-run activities such as coffee houses, the sale of music clothing and memory books.
DVD Coordinator – Filled
This position does not require regular attendance at MPSG meetings, however some reporting to the committee will be necessary.
Responsible for facilitating all aspects of the recording, customer orders, duplication and distribution of Music Night DVDs including: communicating and confirming contracts with a videographer and duplicating company, establishing timelines and reviewing master copy of DVD.
Webmaster - Filled
Attending monthly MPSG meetings would be an asset but not necessary.
Perform updates on the website as needed. Work load is about 2 to 5 hours a month. You will be using the weebly.com platform, which is very easy to use. Some knowledge of websites or blogs would be handy, but also a good position for anyone keen to learn. Can be trained by current Webmaster, plus there are lots of "How to" documents on the hosting site.
